Frequently Asked Questions

1.0 Can I use this site to register for classes?
No. This site is intended solely for cross registration information and to provide a means to obtain a cross registration petition. Registration is still done at each school's Registrar office.

1.1 Who is eligible to cross register?
Students must be a currently registered, full-time student at a faculty of Harvard University, M.I.T., or the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, in order to cross register. Students must remain in good standing at their home school and at the host school for the duration of the semester of cross registration. If a student ceases to be in good standing at the home school at any point during the term of cross registration, the student will be automatically disqualified from taking the host school course, dropped from the class roster and receive no grade or credit for the cross registered course, and will receive no refund of any fees paid.

1.2 What version of Netscape and Explorer should I use to access the online Cross Registration Application?
Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer version 4.05 or higher.

1.3 What should I do if I don't have a PIN to access the online petition form?
Access the PIN registration website.
If you are a student at MIT or Fletcher, you must see your own Registrar for your home school's petition form.

1.4 What if I have a PIN but I have forgotten my password or am having trouble accessing the system?
Contact the Central Helpdesk at 496-2001.

1.5 What format is the online petition form in, and what do I need to do to print it out?
Forms are currently available in one format: The .PDF file format is the standard format for the online form. PDF files can be read using Adobe Acrobat Reader. (If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader, you can get it by clicking here.)

1.6 I clicked on the online petition form, but it did not display. Why?
Your system may be set up to check files that are downloaded for viruses before opening them. Check to see if a new item (for example, Norton AntiVirus) is now on your taskbar. If so, click on the item and then save the file to your computer.
